An ethics violation has been filed with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General against three Jackson councilmen accused of violating the Sunshine Laws, according to a report by Shore News Network.
The complaint is against Councilmen Marty Flemming, Nino Borrelli, and Steve Chisolm over alleged private meetings the men held to discuss township business without notifying the public, as required by law.
The complaint also alleges that one of the councilmen, believed to be Flemming, didn’t disclose all the real estate properties he owns to the state, also as required by law.
“At this time, there’s no room for any behind-the-scenes impropriety in our town, and our club is taking these allegations seriously at this time,” Jackson GOP Club President Mordechai Burnstein told Shore News Network.
While he has not yet commented publicly on the matter, former GOP Club President Todd Porter previously used similar allegations against Mike Reina to dissuade people from voting for him, saying “where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
It isn’t clear if Porter will presumptively say the same about the current allegations against Flemming, Borrelli, and Chisolm.
