Jackson Council Aiming To Allocate $2 Million To Sidewalk Projects In Upcoming Budget

The Jackson Township Council is expected to approve key infrastructure upgrades in their next meeting, including the installation of sidewalks along Bethel Church Road and improvements to Pitney Lane.

Bethel Church Road, a heavily trafficked roadway, has long lacked sidewalks—posing serious safety concerns for pedestrians, particularly on Shabbos, when many families walk to and from shul in the absence of vehicular transportation.

In tandem, the Council is set to greenlight upgrades to Pitney Lane, another area in need of pedestrian and roadway improvements.

Township officials say they are prioritizing these upgrades in response to consistent public feedback, noting that sidewalks remain one of the most common requests among Jackson residents. As part of this push, the Township is planning to allocate approximately $2 million toward sidewalk projects in the upcoming municipal budget.
