IT NEVER ENDS: Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike Tolls Going Up Again

Toll rates for the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will be increased once again next year, Department of Transportation commissioner Diane Guttierrez-Scaccetti told lawmakers on Tuesday.

“Tolls will go up on January 1,” she said. “The indexing of tolls will occur on January 1.”

The exact amount of the toll increase has not been announced yet, but it is likely that it will be in line with the rate of inflation. The toll hikes will apply to both cash and E-ZPass customers, although the increase for E-ZPass users will be slightly lower.

The NJ Turnpike Authority insists that the projects are crucial to ensure the safety and reliability of the transportation network and to meet the increasing demand for travel.

Tolls have gone up for the past three years on the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway, including increases of 3% in both 2022 and 2023.
