Across New Jersey, fans of Governor Phil Murphy were somewhat upset, though not surprised, when President Joe Biden his bid for a second term in office.
Murphy had barely kept it a secret that he was planning to run for president in 2024, but all those plans went out the window the second Biden announced his new campaign.
However, not all is lost or Murphy. That’s because the New Jersey governor can still get a high-level position in the Biden administration, specifically in the Cabinet, and mode specifically as secretary of state.
The current secretary of state, Antony Blinken, has been sharply criticized on many occasions for seemingly coming to communists and anti-democracy thugs across the world. And don’t forget, he was the nation’s top diplomat during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal during which 13 American soldiers lost their lives.
Based on his performance, Blinken could be out in a second Biden term. And Phil Murphy wants to replace him.
Murphy previously served as US Ambassador to Germany – a fact which he often brings up when discussing foreign policy, leading many to believe that he is lobbying for the secretary of state position.
