Investigation Underway After Lakewood Resident is Struck and Killed in Route 9 Accident

The Howell Township Police Department says it is investigating after a 30-year-old pedestrian from Lakewood was killed after being struck by a car on Route 9.

At approximately 1:55 am Thursday morning, the Lakewood resident was walking south on Route 9 between Alexander Avenue and Ford Road when he was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 53-year-old resident of Deal.

Despite lifesaving measures initiated by first responders, the pedestrian sustained a traumatic injury, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash is being investigated by the Howell Police Department, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team.
