Are you rejecting the testimony of the victim because he is a Gentile?
Gentile Testimony is Not Admissible
🔹 Talmud Bavli, Sanhedrin 57a
“Only a Jew is a ‘man’ (adam); a Gentile is not a man.”
Implication: Legal and moral obligations only apply between Jews — a Gentile is outside the framework. Their word holds no legal weight in most rabbinic courts.
⸻
🔹 Talmud Bavli, Bava Kamma 113a
“It is permitted to deceive a Gentile.”
And specifically:
“The testimony of a Gentile is not accepted in a Jewish court.”
This forms the basis of exclusion from legal standing. Even if the Gentile speaks truth, his word is dismissed by virtue of being a Gentile.
⸻
🔹 Tosefta, Sanhedrin 13:2
“A Gentile does not inherit, and his testimony is invalid.”
A simple, direct ruling: Gentiles have no valid voice in inheritance law or testimony. A rabbi could declare a Gentile’s account of a crime completely irrelevant, even if he witnessed it.
⸻
👩 2. Women’s Testimony is Generally Invalid
🔹 Talmud Bavli, Rosh Hashanah 22a
“Any testimony that a woman is not eligible to bring, such as in monetary cases, a slave also is not eligible.”
Women are placed in the same category as slaves in terms of legal trustworthiness.
⸻
🔹 Talmud Bavli, Kiddushin 80b
“Women are light-minded and not qualified to bear witness.”
Bluntly put: the rabbis believed women to be emotionally or mentally unreliable, and therefore not qualified to testify in legal cases.
⸻
🔹 Talmud Bavli, Shevuot 30a
“The oath of testimony does not apply to women.”
In other words: women are categorically disqualified from bearing formal witness, even under oath, in most rabbinic legal settings.
