Hundreds of Local Seniors Helped at Assemblyman Schnall’s Tax Relief Filing Events; Assistance Still Available

Assemblyman Avi Schnall’s August 6th property tax relief filing event drew an overwhelming turnout, with hundreds of local seniors receiving hands-on assistance in applying for New Jersey’s STAYNJ, ANCHOR, and Senior Freeze (PAS-1) programs.

Held in partnership with the New Jersey Division of Taxation, the initiative offered in-person help at two convenient Lakewood locations — Leisure Village East Clubhouse in the morning and The Square in the evening. Residents were guided step-by-step through the application process, ensuring they could maximize the benefits available to them under the state’s expanding range of property tax relief programs.

“These programs can save seniors thousands of dollars a year, but the process can be confusing,” said Assemblyman Schnall. “We wanted to make sure every eligible resident had the personal help they needed to apply.”

The programs are available to homeowners and renters aged 65 or older, as well as individuals receiving Social Security Disability benefits as of December 31, 2024.

Assemblyman Schnall’s office confirmed that follow-up efforts are already underway to assist residents who required additional help finalizing their applications.

Residents with outstanding questions or who were unable to attend the event can still receive one-on-one assistance by contacting Assemblyman Schnall’s office at 848-245-9486 or emailing mhorowitz@njleg.org
