Human remains discovered in Ocean County earlier this year have been positively identified as that of Joseph Izquierdo, 37, of Egg Harbor, authorities announced.
On April 9, the Plumsted Township Police Department received a 911 call relative to a report of human remains located in a wooded area approximately one-quarter mile from Route 528. Responding Officers found the remains to be in advanced stages of decomposition.
On May 14, the results of an examination of the human remains by the New Jersey State Police Forensic Anthropology Unit and a Forensic Odontologist, were forwarded to the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office. On May 24, the results were reviewed by the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office and the human remains were positively identified as that of Mr. Izquierdo. The cause and manner of death still remain under investigation.
