Howell Police Investigating Taxi Driver Slashed in Face During Violent Carjacking Near Oak Glen Park

The Howell Police Department is investigating a carjacking and aggravated assault that occurred late Friday night, January 16, near the entrance to Oak Glen Park.

Police said a 46-year-old taxi driver was assaulted at the conclusion of a fare when one of two passengers slashed him in the face with a knife and then stole his vehicle. The victim was able to flee the area on foot and was later located by a patrol officer, who rendered aid until additional responders arrived. He was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he was treated for a facial laceration and listed in stable condition.

A short time later, responding officers located the stolen taxi abandoned nearby. A perimeter was established and a K-9 search was conducted, but the suspects were not located and remain at large.

The investigation remains active. Howell Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information related to this case to contact Detective Vincent Bonner at (732) 938-4575, extension 2647.
