Homes Evacuated In Freehold After Explosive Found

Police in Freehold ordered a number of residents to evacuate their homes after an explosive device was found by a resident on Sunday night.

Police didn’t say what type of explosive it was or where it came from.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the immediate area was evacuated until the device could be examined,” police said. “After an investigation by the State Police it was determined that the device was now inert and there was no danger to the public.”

Police will presumably give an additional update regarding the explosive’s origins and how it got to a residential area.
