Central Jersey Hatzolah’s newest ambulance, which went into service less than a month ago, was severely damaged after a fire broke out onboard the vehicle on Sunday.
While details surrounding the fire remain unclear, it is known that the ambulance was parked at the time the fire was sparked. Nobody was injured, but the rig will require extensive repairs, if it can be salvaged at all. That determination has not yet been made.
The Ocean County Fire Marshal is at the scene assessing the damage and investigating what happened.
