An Orthodox Jewish man was hospitalized Shabbos afternoon after being assaulted in an unprovoked attack on Vermont Avenue in Lakewood.
Sources tell Lakewood Alerts that the victim, who is in his mid-20s, was walking with two other men between Chestnut Street and Route 70 when a vehicle stopped nearby. A man reportedly exited the car and attacked them without warning.
The group was “brutally assaulted,” according to an eyewitness, and one of the men suffered a leg injury.
Hatzolah and Lakewood police arrived at the scene shortly afterward. The injured man was transported by Hatzolah to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police are investigating the incident and searching for the suspect. No additional details about the assailant or vehicle have been released.
