Assemblyman Avi Schnall was cursed at by an antisemite as he forcefully testified during a New Jersey Senate hearing this week regarding legislation to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.
Previous attempts to hold a hearing on the bill were met with opposition. In March, a hearing was cancelled after a large crowd gathered at the statehouse in Trenton to protest the bill. In May, a committee hearing was cancelled just days before it was scheduled to take place, citing “security concerns.”
Following backlash, a virtual hearing was held earlier this week.
Schnall’s testimony – a powerful demonstration of his erudition – continued uninterrupted despite the antisemite’s attempt to derail it.
The video below shows Schnall’s full testimony. The hate lobbed at him occurs at minute mark 1:14. The expletive has been bleeped for sensitivity.
