Jackson’s Harmony Farms neighborhood bid a fond farewell to Rav Eliyahu Attias shlit”a, the rav who moved to Jackson from Eretz Yisroel to help build the Moroccan kehilla, and who is now moving back.
Rav Eliyahu moved to Jackson with his rebbetzin in 2019 with great mesirus nefesh – he was already in his mid-70s at the time. There, he began leading a shul in the converted garage of a local family.
The rav is a world-renowned talmid chochom and oheiv Yisroel. A talmid of Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l, he also learned in Torat Emet, Rav Moshe Schneider’s yeshiva in London, and he held a makom kavuah in the shul of Chacham Ovadia Yosef zt”l. Rav Eliyahu helped found the Scranton Yeshiva as well as Ner Yisroel in Toronto, and for 23 years administered the Kehillas Yaakov Kollel in Yerushalayim.
He did not help found Ner Yisroel in Toronto, rather he was a Rebbi there for many years.
