New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill on Thursday called on Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell to resign after an independent investigation found what the Governor described as serious and repeated violations of state policy.
The development comes after Lakewood Alerts previously reported that Caldwell was under investigation over allegations of inappropriate conduct.
Sherrill said Caldwell has until Friday to resign, saying the conduct detailed in the investigation failed to meet the ethical standards of her administration. The Governor said the investigation was initiated by the administration’s Chief Ethics Officer and conducted by a former New Jersey Attorney General.
Caldwell has disputed the findings of the investigation.
