Chaim V’Chessed continues to update the English-speaking community in Israel of various summer closures of government offices.
Visas: In a last minute change, the Jerusalem Visa Department has decided to close for the week of August 27. The Department is scheduled to reopen on September 3.
Driver’s Licenses: MIsrad Harishuy, the Licensing Section of the Ministry of Transportation, has announced they are canceling their afternoon hours through August 31. They will remain open: Sunday – Thursday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Additionally, their offices will be closed on Wednesday, Sept 13 and Tuesday, October 31.
Employment: The Lishkot HaTaasuka (Employment offices) will be closed for the week of August 27, and will reopen on September 3.
Arnona Discount Deadline
Many residents are eligible for significant discounts in their Arnona (property tax). In previous years, it has been possible to apply for these discounts until the end of the year. However, this year, the application deadline in Jerusalem has been moved up to August 31, 2023. Hence, applications for discounts must be submitted immediately.
