Gov. Murphy Vetoes Larger Increase In Busing Aid-In-Lieu for Nonpublic Schools

Agudath Israel of America’s New Jersey Office recently hailed the inclusion of increases to programs important to the Jewish community in the state’s $56.7 billion budget.

The increases noted by Agudah include $1,177 in aid-in-lieu for nonpublic school busing, up from $1,165. But that’s not the whole story.

The New Jersey Legislature had actually approved an aid-in-lieu increase up to $1,185. So why is it lower? Because Gov. Murphy vetoed the increase, unilaterally lowering it to $1,177.

Why Gov. Murphy did this remains undisclosed, but askanim and nonpublic education advocates are reportedly furious at the move.

  1. Why are they so furious? They suck up to the Democrats all the time. Quit it already. Democrats aren’t your friends! They have your long-term destruction in mind. They’ll help you and help you and help you and help you until you simply can’t rely on yourselves anymore. I don’t know why these crazy “askonim” don’t see it unless it’s the fact that they’re just dying for the kovid from the uneducated masses.

And what’s so bad about this? Maybe our taxes won’t go up as much? We’re already paying very very high taxes in this state.

  2. Murphy cares more about controlling gas stoves than educating the children who will be the next generations decision makers. He needs to shift focus. NJ Public school system has been falling… not supporting the non-public schools is a bad mistake.

NJ is voting Republican more and more. This is part of the reason why.

    • NEVER!
They’ll keep kissing up to the Democrats no matter what. The Democrats are the party of the handouts. Unfortunately when you get a handout it means you are beholden to them. You going to hand out from them and they have their tentacles in your wallet.
