Governor Phil Murphy on Wednesday morning marked the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, during which brave Jews used improvised weapons to fight back against the Nazis, an effort that ultimately ended in the complete liquidation of the ghetto.
“Today mark the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, when a courageous Jewish resistance fought back against their Nazi occupiers in a final act to refuse deportation to death camps,” Murphy wrote on Twitter.
“We remember these brave souls and their eternal message to always stand up to evil,” he added.
