Gov. Murphy Declared New Jersey A Sanctuary State. Now He’s Regretting It

Back in the day, Governor Phil Murphy declared New Jersey a sanctuary state that would give shelter to illegal immigrants who settled down in the Garden State. But his tune has shifted dramatically since President Joe Biden included Atlantic City Airport as a potential location resettle migrants currently in New York City.

“I don’t see any scenario where we’re going to be able to take in a program in Atlantic City or frankly elsewhere in the state,” Murphy said. “You need scale, enormous amount of federal support, resources that go beyond anything that we can afford. Putting everything else aside, I just don’t see it. I would suspect that that will continue to be the case.”

Interesting. Shouldn’t he be excited to be able to welcome all the migrants to New Jersey? The answer is, of course, quite simple. Murphy knows that illegal immigrants being settled in New Jersey will result in disaster for Democrats in the upcoming November election.

So, the governor wants to keep all those illegal immigrants out of New Jersey at least until all votes are cast. After that? Who knows. Regardless, it comes to show how seriously voters take the issue of illegal immigration, and how heavily slanted they are in favor of securing the border – so much so that Democrats are trying to wriggle out of taking responsibility for the crisis they have created.
