A blaze at a home on Birmingham Avenue in the Pine Lake Park section of Manchester lightly injured two firefighters and destroyed the stricken structure, Manchester Police said today.
The fire began shortly before midnight, engulfing the home in flames by the time firefighters were at the scene. The homeowner was able to get to safety before firefighter arrived.
Neighbors tell Lakewood Alerts that the homeowner was a hoarder, which may have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
Police evacuated several nearby homes over fears that the fire would spread, which it thankfully did not.
The fire is currently under investigation, and a cause has not yet been established.
The blaze comes on the heels of another fire on Laketree Court in Pine Lake Park that claimed the life of its sole occupant, as well as a fire committed by an anti-Semitic arsonist that destroyed an under-construction home which was not even owned by a Jew.
