A New Jersey Natural Gas employee who left a Jewish customer an offensive voicemail message has been terminated following an investigation, sources have confirmed to Lakewood Alerts.
The incident began when a local Jewish customer in New Jersey applied for a rebate with the utility company and received a cordial voicemail in response. However, after delivering the initial message, the employee apparently failed to disconnect the call and proceeded with an antisemitic tirade, including derogatory remarks and unpublishable name-calling, as well as accusations that Jewish people “want everyone else to do their work for them.”
The voicemail, although obtained by Lakewood Alerts, contains multiple instances of swearing, and thus will not be published.
The voicemail gained widespread attention after it was publicized, prompting NJ Natural Gas to place the employee on leave and launch an investigation. Now, Lakewood Alerts has confirmed that the company has decided to terminate the employee in response to the incident.
New Jersey Natural Gas has yet to comment on the dismissal, but the company previously indicated that it took the allegations seriously and would ensure the incident was addressed appropriately.
