Lakewood emergency crews responded to a structure fire on Lakeview Place, just off River Avenue, shortly after noon on Friday, as thick black smoke poured from the residence and was visible from surrounding streets.
Firefighters and EMS arrived within minutes and began immediate efforts to contain the blaze. As a precaution, Lakewood police temporarily Route 9 between John Street and Manetta Avenue to allow emergency vehicles access and to ensure public safety.
Crews were able to put water on the flames quickly, and the fire was brought under control before it could spread to neighboring properties. No one was inside the home at the time of the incident, and no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet provided further details.
