Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on Thursday, at approximately 3:15 pm., Officers from the Lakewood Township Police Department and Lakewood Township Fire Departments were dispatched to a structure fire on Prospect Street. Upon arrival, emergency personnel observed fires on the stairwell and on the second floor of the structure. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fires.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office.
“Additional information will be released to the public as it becomes available,” Prosecutor Billhimer concluded.
