U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba announced Monday the formation of a new Election Integrity Task Force, a federal initiative aimed at protecting the security and credibility of elections across the state.
The task force will bring together federal prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and law enforcement officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other federal agencies. This coordinated effort will implement directives outlined in President Trump’s March 25, 2025 Executive Order on election integrity.
Key priorities of the task force will include enhancing cooperation between federal, state, and local officials to improve the accuracy of voter rolls by removing individuals who are not eligible to vote. It will also focus on investigating and prosecuting election-related crimes such as voter registration fraud, casting of fraudulent ballots, voting by non-citizens, multiple voting in the same election, and foreign interference through illegal donations from foreign nationals.
Another core function of the task force will be ensuring that states comply with voter list maintenance requirements outlined in the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act.
“Together with our federal partners, we are fully committed to ensuring that elections in New Jersey are conducted fairly, lawfully, and with the highest standards of integrity,” said U.S. Attorney Habba. “The Election Integrity Task Force will take every necessary step to uphold federal election laws and will not hesitate to pursue those who attempt to undermine our democratic process.”
Members of the public who suspect election-related crimes or misconduct are encouraged to report them through the U.S. Attorney’s Office Election Hotline at (888) 636-6596 or online at https://tips.fbi.gov/home.
