Federal Court Dismisses Trump Administration Lawsuit Challenging NJ Governor’s ICE Executive Order

A federal court has dismissed a Trump Administration lawsuit challenging an executive order issued by New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill that restricts federal immigration officers’ access to nonpublic state property.

Governor Sherrill announced the court’s decision Friday, calling it a victory for her administration’s immigration enforcement policy.

“ICE is not making New Jersey’s communities any safer,” Sherrill said in a statement.

The governor said she signed the executive order to restrict access to nonpublic state property by certain federal immigration officers, adding that the Trump Administration had attempted to block the policy in court.

“Once again, Trump tried to stop us, and once again we won,” Sherrill said.

Sherrill said protecting New Jersey residents remains her top priority and pledged to continue defending the executive order and other policies she says are aimed at keeping communities safe.

“My number one priority will always be to protect New Jerseyans, and I will continue to fight for safe communities for everyone in our state,” she said.
