Shoppers at the Jackson Premium Outlets were forced to evacuate Friday afternoon after a reported bomb threat prompted a large-scale response from local law enforcement.
According to Jackson Township Police, the evacuation began around 3:30 p.m. after authorities received information suggesting a possible explosive device on the property. Officers quickly cleared the outlet mall on Monmouth Road, and a full investigation was launched.
Police conducted a thorough sweep of all stores and surrounding areas with the assistance of specialized units. By 5:20 p.m., officials confirmed that no device had been found and the threat was determined to be unfounded.
“After a sweep of all stores, the location has been deemed safe to resume normal business,” police said in a statement. “Officers are in the process of breaking down the scene and regular activities have resumed, with patrons being permitted to return.”
Authorities have not disclosed the origin or nature of the threat. The investigation remains ongoing.
