Driver Injured, Charged After Overturned Vehicle Crash in Manchester Township

A Manchester woman was injured and later charged with suspected driving while intoxicated following a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon that brought down power lines and left a truck overturned in a wooded area.

At approximately 12:58 p.m. on July 16, 2025, Manchester Township Police responded to the area of Commonwealth Boulevard and Third Street after receiving reports of a crash. Upon arrival, officers found a utility pole severed in half with high-voltage power lines strewn across the roadway.

The vehicle involved, a red 2024 Nissan Frontier, was discovered overturned about 20 yards into a wooded area, resting on its roof with significant front-end damage.

Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle had been traveling westbound on Commonwealth Boulevard when the driver failed to navigate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, striking several street signs, a utility pole, and multiple trees before descending a small embankment and overturning.

The driver, identified as 61-year-old Lisa Leith of Manchester, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Emergency responders extricated her from the wreckage, and she was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Manchester Township EMS, assisted by paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She is currently in stable condition.

Following the crash, police charged Leith with suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Impairment is believed to be the primary factor contributing to the incident. The crash remains under active investigation by Patrolman Jesse Hoydis and Patrolman Sage Sysol of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

Responding agencies included Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, volunteer fire companies from Ridgeway, Manchester, and Joint Base, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Priced Rite Towing.
