Driver Arrested After Fleeing Crash in Brick That Resulted In Injuries

Nicholas Lotito, 54, of Brick Township, has been charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious bodily injury following an incident that occurred on Wednesday.

According to authorities, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Brick Township Police officers responded to the intersection of Schoener Drive and Brick Boulevard for a report of a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro had struck a utility pole, and the driver had fled the scene on foot.

An investigation determined that Lotito, along with two passengers, had been traveling on Brick Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed. All three occupants left the area following the collision. One of the passengers was transported by a friend to Ocean University Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash and later released. The other passenger was uninjured.

Lotito was located by responding officers as he attempted to walk back to his residence. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Ocean University Medical Center for treatment of injuries related to the crash.

A blood sample was collected from Lotito pursuant to a court-authorized warrant, with results pending. He was subsequently transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is being held pending a detention hearing.
