Downed Wire Shuts Squankum Road Just North of Lakewood

A downed wire forced the closure of Squankum Road in both directions Monday afternoon, authorities said.

According to Lakewood police, the wire came down just north of the Lakewood municipal border, prompting officials to shut the roadway to traffic for safety reasons.
Police said the closure is expected to remain in place until approximately 5 p.m. as crews work to address the issue and ensure the area is safe for motorists.

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and avoid the area until the roadway is reopened.
