With less than two weeks to go before Election Day, a new poll shows the race for New Jersey governor tightening, with Democrat Mikie Sherrill holding a narrow lead over Republican Jack Ciattarelli as both campaigns enter the final stretch.
According to a KAConsulting survey commissioned by Change NJ, a Republican-aligned political action committee, Sherrill leads with 47 percent of likely voters compared to Ciattarelli’s 44 percent. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus four points, effectively putting the race within statistical dead heat territory.
The new numbers suggest a slight shift toward Ciattarelli. A Quinnipiac University poll released last week found Sherrill ahead 50–44, while her advantage stood at five points in July. The latest results indicate her lead has narrowed to just three points.
Despite the tightening margin, Sherrill has maintained a consistent edge across recent surveys. A Fox News poll earlier this month also showed her leading, as did a Quantus Insights poll that found the Democrat ahead 48.1 percent to 45.8 percent. Quinnipiac’s September poll showed Sherrill at 49 percent to Ciattarelli’s 41 percent, suggesting the Republican has steadily gained ground.
With polling averages now within the margin of error and both candidates ramping up campaign events across the state, the New Jersey governor’s race appears poised for a photo finish in November.
