Two 18-year-old riders from Browns Mills were hospitalized Sunday evening following a collision between two dirt bikes in the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area, according to the Manchester Township Police Department.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. on July 20, officers responded to Hay Road after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash involving off-road motorcycles. Upon arrival, police located a Kawasaki dirt bike with significant front-end damage lying across the roadway. Both riders were found at the scene with serious injuries.
An initial investigation determined that the Kawasaki was traveling north on Hay Road when it struck a Yamaha dirt bike that had begun to make a U-turn on the trail. The impact ejected the Kawasaki rider from his vehicle.
The Kawasaki rider was identified as William Vandergrift II, 18, and the Yamaha rider as Dominic Valdivieso, 18. Emergency medical personnel responded promptly, transporting Vandergrift to Community Medical Center by ambulance. Valdivieso was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital. As of Monday, both individuals were listed in stable condition.
Assisting at the scene were the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Priced Rite Towing.
The incident remains under investigation by Patrolman Gainey of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
