A body was discovered late Wednesday morning inside a porta-potty at Red Square, just outside the Lakewood Police Department headquarters.
The grim discovery was made shortly after noon, and the area around the porta-potty has since been cordoned off with crime scene tape. Detectives from the Lakewood Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the scene within minutes and have begun a full investigation.
Details about the identity of the deceased and the circumstances of the death have not yet been released. Authorities have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected, and no official cause of death has been provided at this time.
