Cyclist Killed In Hit-And-Run In Jackson; Authorities Seek Public’s Help

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew Kunz announced a joint investigation into a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist on Farmingdale Road on Sunday.

At approximately 12:00 p.m., Jackson Township Police Department officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist on Farmingdale Road. The investigation revealed that a 2017 Audi A4, traveling westbound, swerved to avoid a head-on collision with a red SUV, striking a bicyclist in the left lane. The Audi then overcorrected and struck a tree. The red SUV, believed to be a Hyundai, continued eastbound and left the scene.

The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the Audi driver was transported to CentraState Medical Center for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking information about the red Hyundai, believed to be operated by a Caucasian female with a young male child. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sergeant Brad Frank at 732-929-2027, extension 3689, or Sergeant Edward Travisano at 732-928-1111.
