County Prosecutors Group Offers Five Scholarships for Law and Graduate Students in New Jersey

The County Prosecutors Association of New Jersey (CPANJ) is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program for law, graduate, and college students. Each scholarship is a one-time grant of $3,500 awarded directly to the selected recipients. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025, with award decisions expected to be announced in November 2025.

The scholarships are open exclusively to New Jersey residents and are intended to support students pursuing careers in public service, law enforcement, and child advocacy. Previous recipients are not eligible to reapply.

Available Scholarships and Eligibility Requirements:

  • Oscar W. Rittenhouse Memorial Scholarship: Open to New Jersey residents accepted into law school who demonstrate financial need and intend to pursue a career as a prosecutor.
  • Andrew K. Ruotolo Jr. Memorial Scholarship: Available to New Jersey residents accepted into law or graduate school with a demonstrated interest in child advocacy and enhancing the rights and well-being of children.
  • Harris Y. Cotton Memorial Scholarship: For New Jersey residents entering law school with a focus on pursuing a career in prosecution, specifically in domestic violence or hate crimes.
  • John H. Stamler Memorial Scholarship: Offered to sworn New Jersey law enforcement officers seeking higher education to enhance their effectiveness in the field. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Avon Thomas Morgan III Memorial Scholarship: Open to diverse law school applicants from underrepresented groups, in line with the New Jersey Attorney General’s 2021 diversity guideline, who are interested in becoming career prosecutors.
