Congressman Andy Kim, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, made a series of high-profile visits to key institutions in Lakewood this week, underscoring his engagement with local communities as he heads into November’s general election. During his visit, Kim stopped at Beth Medrash Govoha (BMG), Chemed Health Center, and Hatzolah of Central Jersey, speaking with leaders and community members at each location.
Kim, who currently represents New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, is campaigning to succeed former Sen. Bob Menendez, who recently stepped down amid controversy. Menendez’s seat is currently being filled by Senator George Helmy, appointed by Governor Phil Murphy as an interim measure.
Kim’s candidacy is widely viewed as a likely success, given New Jersey’s strong Democratic base, positioning him as the strong favorite against Republican challenger Curtis Bashaw.
Who remembers when the bmg roshei yeshiva wrote a letter that they condemn any bringing of politicians to yeshiva to use the makom Torah as a place to campaign!
The letter the roshei yeshiva released very clearly spoke about bringing politicians into the bais medrash. Since then, no politician has ever been brought into a BMG bais medrash. Kim visited BMG, but did not enter a bais medrash. Use your head.
