Condition Of Critically Injured 12-Year-Old Lakewood Girl Improves, But More Tefillos Are Needed

The family of Batsheva Esther bas Deena Zahava, the 12-year-old struck and critically injured by a pickup truck at Route 9 and Chestnut in Lakewood last week, told Lakewood Alerts on Thursday night that her condition has slowly improved over the past few days, but there is a long way to go.

On Wednesday, doctors were able to extubate (take her off a ventilator) and is breathing on her own, and she has since been taken off sedatives, as well. Additionally, they have seen positive signs of the young girl exhibiting proper brain function.

“Thank you so much for all your tefillos and zechusim, which have helped tremendously,” the family said to the many who are davening on their daughter’s behalf. “Please keep on davening, as she needs Rachamei Shamayim MERUBIM to wake up and recover full brain function.”
