A heart-stopping moment on the New Jersey Turnpike could have ended in disaster when a massive block of snow and ice flew off a moving vehicle, slamming into the windshield of a car traveling behind it.
Dashcam footage captured the harrowing incident, showing the glass shattering on impact as the unsuspecting driver was suddenly engulfed in a spray of debris.
Miraculously, no injuries were reported, but the terrifying close call serves as a critical warning about the dangers of uncleared snow and ice on vehicles—a hazard that has turned deadly in the past.
New Jersey law requires motorists to clear all ice and snow from their vehicles before hitting the road, including the hood, windows, and roof. Those who fail to do so face fines ranging from $25 to $75 per offense—even if no ice dislodges from their vehicle. But if that flying debris causes property damage or injury, the penalties skyrocket to $200 to $1,000 per offense.
With icy road conditions contributing to nearly 500 fatalities across the U.S. every year, incidents like this highlight the life-or-death consequences of failing to clear snow from a vehicle.

I hope and pray they were able to get license plate information off the vehicle whose owner didn’t bother cleaning off his roof and charge them with a nice misdemeanor as well as the repair for the windshield.
If you are one of those people that don’t bother cleaning off your roof, you’re a sick individual. You should be thrown in jail!
I know the person who was driving the car. The fact that the driver skillfully pulled the car to the side – with 3 terrified kids – is a miracle in itself.
It’s not about the penalties. It’s about being a murderer if someone c”v gets killed.
Yes, I said it!
