Chaveirim Warns Homeowners Amid Spike in Sprinkler Breakdowns Due to Cold Weather

With temperatures dropping across the region, Chaveirim of Central Jersey is urging homeowners to winterize their sprinkler systems after a sharp rise in weather-related emergencies.

Over the past several days, the organization has responded to a surge in calls from residents dealing with burst pipes and damaged sprinkler components—problems that can lead to extensive flooding and costly repairs if left unchecked.

Chaveirim members note that many of the incidents could have been avoided with basic winterization steps, including shutting off outdoor water lines, draining remaining water from the system, and insulating exposed pipes.

“A few minutes of preparation can save homeowners thousands of dollars,” a Chaveirim coordinator said.

  1. As a plumber myself in the lakewood area I’d like to ad a tip. If ur prone to frozen pipes leave a faucet running a trickle to prevent freezing over. Rather spend a little extra on ur water bill then to have frozen pipes with no water flow. Hope this helps.
