A wedding at Ateres Reva came to a sudden halt Wednesday night when a power outage plunged the hall into darkness and shut down the air conditioning—just as the festivities were in full swing.
But thanks to the quico response of Chaveirim of Central Jersey, the simcha didn’t stay on pause for long.
Within minutes of the blackout, Chaveirim volunteers arrived on the scene with light towers, generators, and industrial fans, working quickly to restore lighting and provide ventilation in the rapidly warming hall.
Their intervention turned what could have been a major disappointment into yet another reminder of the power of chesed. The music resumed, the lights came back on, and the simcha carried on—with added appreciation for the volunteers who made it happen.
Earlier in the day, Chaveirim announced the addition of eight new members to its team of more than 200 volunteers who make themselves available day and night to assist others.
