CDC Tells All of New Jersey to Mask Up Amid Tripledemic

As the flu, Covid, and RSV continue to sicken thousands all across the Garden State, the CDC is telling New Jersey residents to dust off their face masks and put them back on when in public.

New Jersey’s hospitals and pediatric care centers have been inundated with patients, though its intensive care units have fared better than those in other states.

Still, New Jersey reported 96 Covid deaths over the last week – the most since last February – as well as its third pediatric death from the flu this season.

The CDC’s guidance now calls for all New Jerseyans to mask up when in indoor, public spaces. However, the CDC’s guidance is not legally binding, and it doesn’t appear Gov. Phil Murphy will order a return to wearing masks anytime soon.
