Car Mechanic Arrested After Confronting Customer With Machete In Howell

Howell police officers on Saturday arrested a resident of Bayville who confronted a man with a machete for allegedly not paying him money owed for a car repair he performed.

Police say that the unnamed 39-year-old suspect walked into the Collingwood Auction flea market at around 9 AM with a machete to confront a 40-year-old Neptune resident over the car repair bill.

During the argument over the money, bystanders managed to prevent the fight from escalating into a physical altercation and/or the large knife being used. The machete-wielding suspect  then fled the scene, without receiving money, prior to police arrival.

Police quickly identified the man, located him several hours later in Eatontown, and detained him. He was charged with multiple crimes, including possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and terroristic threats.
