The Lakewood Republican Club’s screening committee on Wednesday evening formally endorsed Bruce Stern and Debbie Fuentes for the Republican nominations for Lakewood Township Committee posts.
The endorsement does not cement Stern and Fuentes as the Republican nominees, but provides them a major boost towards being officially nominated later this year.
The Township committee will have a vacant seat in the next election as Committeeman Mike D’Elia steps down, with both Stern and Fuentes seeking to fill it.
They will face off against Mayor Ray Coles and Jimmy Esposito for D’Elia’s vacant seat and one currently held by Mayor Coles in this year’s November elections.
