The Ocean County Board of Commissioners has sent a congratulatory letter to Moshe Raitzik, addressing him as “Committeeman-Elect” for the Township of Lakewood despite the fact that Raitzik did not win a seat in the election earlier this month.
The letter, dated November 20, 2024, and signed by Commissioners John P. Kelly and Virginia E. Haines, commends Raitzik on his “recent election” and expresses anticipation for working with him during his upcoming term. It emphasizes collaboration on issues impacting Lakewood Township and Ocean County as a whole.
“If we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our offices,” the letter says, concluding with warm congratulations and best wishes.
However, Raitzik did not secure a seat on the Lakewood Township Committee, making the letter equal parts funny and awkward.
The letter was most likely the result of a clerical mistake. Neither the Ocean County Board of Commissioners nor Raitzik has issued a public statement addressing the matter.
