A community blood drive honoring the late Gary Letizia will take place on Monday, January 12, at the Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department in Toms River.
The Gary Letizia Memorial Blood Drive will run from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 40 Clayton Avenue. The drive is being held in memory of Gary Letizia, who was diagnosed with leukemia at age 68. According to his family, donated blood played a critical role in extending his life and allowing for meaningful time together during his final year.
Organizers are encouraging community members to donate blood to help save lives and support patients currently undergoing treatment. Donors will receive a Gary Letizia Memorial Donor Coin as a token of appreciation. Appointments are encouraged and can be made through the New York Blood Center website, though walk-ins will also be welcomed throughout the day.
