A New Jersey woman who was struck by her own vehicle found herself in some hot water after police determined that she had broken the law.
On Monday, the Hackettstown police responded to a report of a struck pedestrian. Through an investigation, it was determined that a 61-year-old female resident of Hackettstown was getting out her 2014 Lincoln when she didn’t realize her vehicle was not in park. As she attempted to stop the vehicle from rolling, she fell out of the vehicle and the vehicle rolled over the left side of her body.
The vehicle continued to roll and then struck a 2016 Ford which was parked alongside Helms Mill Road. The female suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Independence Township First Aid Squad to Morristown Medical Center.
Then officers realized something – the woman was driving an unregistered vehicle. She was immediately issued a summons.
