BIZARRE: Woman Arrested After Posing As a New Jersey High School Student

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested on multiple charges after posing as a high school student and even attending classes at New Brunswick High School.

Police say that Hyejeong Shin was only busted after trying to sign herself out of school early one day. When administration told her that students can’t sign themselves out, she told them that she’s actually 29. But instead of getting her let out, it got her directly into handcuffs.

Investigators say Shin provided a fake birth certificate to convince school authorities that she was eligible to be in the school. In fact, the woman is actually a former Rutgers University student, having graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Chinese.

It isn’t clear why Shin posed as a high school student, but police are concerned she was trying to lure unsuspecting high schoolers into nefarious and dangerous activities.
