Lakewood Alerts regrets to inform you of the sudden petira of Reb Dovid Berger Z”L, one of Lakewood’s most well-known and respected sofrim, who was niftar suddenly on Sunday at the age of 76 after suffering a heart attack.
Hatzolah responded and worked tirelessly to save his life, but despite their efforts, he was sadly niftar a short while later.
For decades, Reb Dovid dedicated his life to the sacred craft of sofrus, earning a reputation for his expertise, precision, and unwavering commitment to kedushas Stam. He was widely respected throughout the Lakewood community and beyond, with many turning to him for sifrei Torah, tefillin, and mezuzos.
Beyond his renowned work as a sofer, Reb Dovid was admired for his humility, kindness, and warm personality. His sudden Petira has left family, friends, and countless members of the community deeply shocked and saddened.
The Levaya will take place on Monday at 11:30am at the Lakewood Chapel, 613 Ramsey Avenue
