We regret to inform you of the petirah of R’ Meir Wolofsky z”l, the father-in-law of baal tzedaka R’ Chuny Herzka yb”l.
R’ Meir, a longtime resident of Flatbush, relocated to Toms River several years ago to be near his children and grandchildren.
R’ Meir was widely known and admired as an ehrliche Yid who lived his life with a steadfast commitment to Torah and Yiddishkeit.
The levaya is scheduled to take place at 3 pm at the Lakewood Chapel, 613 Ramsey Avenue. A subsequent levaya will be held at 6 pm at the Boston Bais Medrash in Flatbush, 2822 Ave. J. Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
Baruch Dayan Ha’Emes.

Perhaps not as well known in the Yeshivishe Velt, but Rabbi Wolofsky for decades single-handedly ran Torah Bowl, a quiz-show style Torah competition that encouraged MIddle and High School students in Modern and Centrist Orthodox schools to learn a full sefer with each Rashi each year. Thousands of students have participated over the years, and at the final competitions held before his passing (just last week), the degree to which these students had mastered the material was incredibly evident. Rabbi Wolofsky is bringing truckloads of zechuyos for being marbitz Torah with him to his final din v-cheshbon. Yehi Zichro Baruch.
He was Baal shachris and shofar blower at my shul queens Jewish center for many years about 1990 to 2017 approximately and was spectacular!
