Lakewood Alerts regrets to inform you of the petirah of R’ Aryeh Zak z”l, the iconic founder and proprietor of Torah Treasures, who was niftar over Shabbos at the age of 74 after a prolonged illness.
Originally from Eretz Yisroel, R’ Aryeh moved to Lakewood decades ago and quickly became a familiar presence in the community. Together with his devoted wife, he opened and operated Torah Treasures, which over the years became much more than a Judaica and seforim store — it became a central hub for Lakewood families seeking to bring kedushah into their homes.
Whether it was helping a young boy pick out his first siddur or guiding a chosson in choosing a Shas for his new home, R’ Aryeh was known for his warmth, sincerity, and encyclopedic knowledge of Torah literature. His signature voice and ever-present smile greeted tens of thousands of customers throughout the years, leaving a deep and lasting impression on generations of Lakewood residents.
Despite battling health challenges in recent years, R’ Aryeh remained committed to serving the tzibbur with the same dedication and ahavas haTorah that defined his life.
The levaya will take place at 12 AM tonight at the Lakewood Chapel, 613 Ramsey Ave. Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
