Lakewood Alerts regrets to inform you of the petirah of Mrs. Toni (Tova) Berger a”h, a Holocaust survivor who lived until the ripe old age of 101.
Mrs. Berger was among the children aboard the famous Kindertransport in the 1930s that spared hundreds of Jewish children from the Holocaust inferno. Once in America, she settled down in Brooklyn and built a family with her late husband, R’ Moshe Berger z”l, who was one of the original post-war askanim who worked hand-in-hand with Mike Tress z”l and other luminaries.
Mrs. Berger moved to Lakewood around a decade ago to be near her children in her advancing age.
She is survived by her children R’ Heshy, R’ Yossi, and Mrs. Yenty Rubenfeld. She was predeceased by her son, R’ Shloimy z”l.
The levaya is scheduled to take place at the Lakewood Chapel at 4:30 pm, following by a second at the JFK El Al Cargo area. Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
